I spent most of my childhood with my nose in a book, Beatrix Potter, Nancy Drew, an encyclopedia, anything I could get my hands on. The library was my second home and I had a drawer piled high with notebooks, scribbled stories on every page.
In High School, I covered sports for a local paper and interned writing copy for a popular rock station. I followed my passion to college and got an Associates degree in Communications. I was on my way to a career doing what I loved. Before long doubt crept in, entry level jobs in the field didn’t pay as well as my part time office job. I liked doing the Books well enough right? Accounting paid better and had more career prospects right? I put away my notebooks filled with stories and dreams. I found a new world full of numbers, got a Bachelors degree in Accounting. Next was a MBA, a CPA and decades spent immersed in tax law and financial statements. I would still dust off my notebooks once in awhile or take an Adult Ed Creative Writing class but the dream slowly faded.
Now my two boys are grown and almost gone. I am a 12 year breast cancer survivor. My husband of 30 years and I have moved to a quiet condo. I have worked my way up the corporate ladder. It has been a good life but what now?
Maybe it is time to finish what I started almost 50 years ago and let my writing blossom. I can bring a lifetime of experience to my writing and am ready to share my stories with the world.
Thanks for coming along with me on my next adventure!
